“You should remember the words of our Lord Jesus, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35) Oh, that we would always remember! If we could remember the exhilaration of meeting a need, if we could bottle the feeling of contentment we get when we selflessly serve, if we could never forget the smile that our giving caused, how happy (blessed) we would be!
Unfortunately, it is so easy to lose sight of the blessing of giving. This is exacerbated by the fact that those who receive our gifts often live far away. We may never see the smiles that our giving brings. Yet, we still have cause to celebrate. When we chose Christian simplicity great blessing comes to those we serve. But it also comes to we who serve in the form of balance: balance in our checkbooks and balance in our hearts! These articles celebrate the victory of giving and the dream of a servant focused world.
